Kevin Muñoz

Founding Attorney

Kevin C. Muñoz received his bachelor’s degree in History and Religious Studies from Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN in 1999 and his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Robert H. McKinney School of Law, Indiana University in Indianapolis in 2008.  He is licensed to practice law in Indiana as well as in the Federal Southern District of Indiana. Kevin has a background in International Human Rights Law.  As a fellow of Indiana University’s Program in International Human Rights Law he worked as an Intern for the Rights of Street Children in San Jose, Costa Rica in 2006.  He has also studied law in Latin America (Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil) and he speaks fluent Spanish.  Before becoming an attorney, Kevin worked as an Elementary School Advisor in Indianapolis (2002-2008) and has dedicated his career to assisting families in need.  He has a fervent passion for human rights advocacy and applies a human rights centered approach to his focus on Immigration Law and Criminal Defense.  Kevin has been a member of the National Criminal Defense Lawyers (NCDL) as well as the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA).

Angela Joseph

Managing Attorney

Angela Joseph was born in the U.S, her family is from Kerala, India, however, from age 4-18 she lived in Kenya, E. Africa. She graduated cum laude from Southern Nazarene University and is a Robert H. McKinney School of Law (Indiana University Indianapolis) graduate. Prior to coming to Muñoz Legal, Angela worked at the Indiana Supreme Court, State Court Administration as the Access to Courts Attorney. Previous to that, she worked as Assistant Corporation Counsel as a civil litigator for the City of Indianapolis. Angela has a passion for human rights law, and is excited to work in an environment that is committed to fighting for individuals with immigration needs. She is licensed to practice law in the State of Indiana, as well as in the Federal Southern District of Indiana, additionally she has argued in front of the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. Angela is also a member of American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA).  

Emma Mahern

Associate Attorney

Emma Mahern was born and raised in Indianapolis. Her passion for working with immigrants began while attending Indiana University and working in restaurants along-side immigrants from many countries. Before attending law school she pursued that passion by living and working at a shelter for Spanish-speaking families in Chicago, Illinois where she had the opportunity to deepen her understanding of the challenges that face many newly arriving immigrant families. 

In 2014 she graduated summa cum laude from the Robert H. McKinney School of Law where she was selected as the Faculty Prize recipient and a Kennedy Scholar. She is licensed to practice in Indiana, and before the Federal Courts of the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana.  Emma focuses her practice on assisting immigrants in obtaining humanitarian or family-based relief before the US Citizenship & Immigration Service and Immigration Court. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) as well as the National Immigration Project of the National Lawyers Guild.  

Jeremy Johnson

Associate Attorney

Jeremy Johnson is a lifelong Indianapolis resident and a second-generation member of its legal community. His father Kenneth Johnson was a Superior Court Judge in Marion County Superior Court 2 from 1979-2009. Jeremy graduated cum laude with a degree in Political Science from Franklin College in 1999 and graduated from law school at Indiana University – Indianapolis in 2002. He was admitted to the bar in November of 2002.

 His legal career began at Wooden & McLaughlin LLP, as a Litigation Associate from 2002-2006. From 2006-2007 he served as a Deputy Attorney General at the Indiana Attorney General’s Office in the Complex Litigation Division. From 2007-2019 Jeremy was a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney at the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. He tried more than 90 jury trials as a prosecutor, the majority of which were major felonies, including approximately 35 murder trials. From 2013-2019 he was the Supervisor of the OVWI Unit, from 2014-2019 he was Division Chief of the Level 6 Felony Division and in 2019 was a Major Felony Supervisor. 

 Jeremy joined Munoz Legal in 2019. To date he has tried more than 100 jury trials.  

Jordan Paicely

Associate Attorney

Jordan was born and raised in Indianapolis, IN. He received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) and received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Robert H. McKinney School of Law. He is licensed to practice law in the State of Indiana, as well as the Federal Southern District of Indiana. Jordan’s interest in International Relations led him to participate in the China Summer Study Abroad Program offered by Robert H. McKinney School of Law and taught at Renmin University of China Law School, generally recognized as China’s premier law school. In addition to classroom instruction, the program visited several government offices and agencies, including the Supreme People’s Court, the Ministry of Commerce, and a prominent Chinese law firm. Jordan joined Munoz Legal to fully immerse himself in the world of immigration and criminal defense and meet the increasing needs of our clients.

Cinthya Perez

Receptionist and Legal Assistant

Cinthya is a Legal Assistant at Munoz Legal. She was born in Mexico, speaks English and Spanish. Her family migrated to the United States in 1997 when she was 12 years old and has resided in Indiana since then. She graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis in 2003 and completed general studies courses in Ivy Tech Community College in 2004. She found her interest in learning about immigrant rights and social justice issues throughout her high school years when she became a volunteer in a national campaign advocating for the DREAM Act.

Citlali García

Receptionist

Citlali is a receptionist with 3 months of experience in Munoz Legal. At Munoz Legal, she is responsible for answering the phones and scheduling consults.

What she values most about her work is that she likes how she is first in contact with our clients so we can start helping them. She is looking to learn more as she continues this position at Munoz Legal.

Outside of work, Citlali enjoys going out on runs, hanging out with her friends, and having a late night out. She also likes to stay in and play video games. 

David Murillo

Legal Assistant and Interpreter

He holds a degree in Business Administration and spent over seven years working in Human Resources and Coordination in El Salvador. That experience shaped his ability to connect with people, manage processes, and support teams—skills that he now brings into his every day work.

At Muñoz Legal, he’s responsible for initiating contact with potential clients who are exploring immigration relief options. He also supports our team through interpretation services and helps bridge communication between clients and attorneys to ensure a smooth and aligned experience rooted in our values.

One of the things he values most about working at Muñoz Legal is being part of a team that’s genuinely committed to a cause. Helping people has always been part of his life—from supporting families through government programs like food stamps and WIC, to now assisting those navigating complex immigration processes.

Isaac Corrales

Legal Assistant and Interpreter

Isaac has 5 years of experience in the field of interpreting as a certified interpreter by CLI (Certified Languages International), and most recently 2 years in the immigration law field. He is originally from Honduras, and has been working with Muñoz Legal since September, 2024.

At Muñoz Legal, he is responsible for first-hand communication with Spanish speaking clients, official translation of documents, and Interpretation. What he values most about his work is the passion and personal involvement of everyone in our team to achieve the best experience and results for our clients. He is always looking to learn, become more involved in our work, and share his skills to help our firm grow. Outside of work, Isaac is pursuing a degree in Marketing and Audiovisual Production, he enjoys any creative activity like photography, painting, art, and music.

Ashley Alvarado

Legal Assistant

From the heart of Texas, Ashley enjoys being part of a criminal team, where she can help others find resolutions to their cases. Ashley graduated in 2020 from Indiana University. Ashley began her career in the criminal field in June 2023, driven by her passion and interest that developed after her brother passed away in April 2023. He had often expressed a desire for her to work in a law firm. When she saw the Avenger-themed office poster at Munoz Legal, she interpreted it as a sign from her brother, leading her to choose this firm.

Known for being detail-oriented and organized under pressure, Ashley ensures that the firm’s criminal cases are handled with the highest level of accuracy and timeliness. Ashley is skilled in managing criminal case files, coordinating with the State and court personnel, and assisting in the preparation of discovery materials, motions, and trial documentation. She also works closely with clients, offering support and guidance through often stressful legal processes while maintaining the utmost confidentiality and professionalism. Outside of work, Ashley enjoys spending time with family, her fiancé, and loves watching Marvel movies, which was a common interest she shared with her brother.  

Jaela Napier

Legal Assistant

Born in Los Angeles, California, Jaela is a dedicated criminal defense legal assistant with a strong passion for serving underserved communities. She takes pride in helping clients navigate the complexities of the justice system, ensuring they feel supported, informed, and heard throughout every step of their legal journey. Jaela is known for her empathetic nature, strong organizational skills, and her ability to break down complex legal processes in a way that clients can understand. Whether she’s coordinating court documents, preparing case files, or answering clients’ questions with patience and care, she remains a steady presence in what can often be an overwhelming time in their lives. When she's not working, Jaela finds joy and balance in spending time with her daughter Naomi, cooking meals for loved ones, and diving into a good book.

Stuart Mora

Legal Assistant

Stuart was born in Kansas and raised in Lansing, Michigan. He received a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Notre Dame in 2008. Stuart learned Spanish traveling extensively in Mexico, Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Brazil. His experiences abroad inform his desire to serve immigrant communities here in Indiana. Stuart is currently a proud husband and father of two young children. He has worked at Munoz Legal since May of 2021.

Jennifer Hernandez

Legal Assistant

Jennifer was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. In 2004 she moved to Indiana with her parents and two brothers. Jennifer is a proud daughter of Mexican immigrant parents and from a young age she knew her passion was helping others. Jennifer received her bachelor’s degree in Spanish from IUPUI in 2013 and in 2014, she completed a Bridging the Gap Training Program for medical interpreters. After volunteering for a couple of months at Muñoz Legal in Fall 2013, for her senior capstone course, she was certain that working in the legal field and helping immigrants was her passion.

Maggie Johnson

Legal Assistant

Maggie is a committed legal assistant with one year of professional experience and a strong foundation built over four years as an intern at Muñoz Legal, a firm focused on immigration law. During her time at Muñoz Legal, she has developed practical expertise in a range of critical areas, including bonds, ICE holds, 42B applications, EOIR case preparation, and various administrative and office duties. This hands-on experience has equipped her with the skills and knowledge to support both attorneys and clients effectively through complex legal processes.

What Maggie values most in her role is the opportunity to help clients during some of the most challenging times in their lives. She is passionate about making a difference, one case at a time, and finds fulfillment in being a part of a team that advocates for individuals and families navigating the immigration system. Her dedication to client service is matched by her eagerness to continue learning and contributing to meaningful legal outcomes.

Outside of work, Maggie enjoys spending time with her family, attending INDYCAR races, and being outdoors—activities that allow her to recharge and maintain a healthy balance. These personal passions not only bring her joy but also fuel her motivation and commitment to making a positive impact through her work.

Sayra Campos

Legal Assistant

Sayra was born in Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico and has resided in Indianapolis, Indiana since she was 5 years old. Since graduating from Broad Ripple High School in 2010 Sayra has been involved in several local and national grassroot immigrant led movements including work with the Latino Youth Collective and the National Immigrant Youth Alliance. As a founding member of the Indiana Undocumented Youth Alliance in 2012, Sayra has experience in nonprofit and community leadership. Sayra currently serves as Treasurer for the Indiana Undocumented Youth Alliance, Board Member for the Midwest Immigration Fund Coalition, Community Ambassador for the Central Indiana Community Foundation and a member of Movimiento Cosecha Indiana. Growing up as undocumented immigrant in the United States has pushed Sayra to continue to serve UndocuHoosiers across the state and continues fight for permanent protection for all.

Tomas Wagner

Legal Assistant

Tomas has 1 year of experience in immigration law. At Munoz Legal, he is responsible for work permit applications and renewals, DACA renewals, residency renewals, SIJS, citizenship applications, and asylum applications.

Born in North Jersey to a Colombian mother and an American Father, Tomas has had personal awareness and experience with the concept of immigration justice and immigrant rights since he was a child. Continued interest in such concepts has led him to want to pursue a career within immigration law. Tomas graduated from IUPUI in 2023 with a degree in Public Policy.

What he values most about his work is being a trusted source to assist clients navigate their immigration processes and he is always looking to provide a friendly face and a helping hand to those in need.

Outside of work, Tomas enjoys fashion, playing soccer, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.

Vanessa Hernandez

Legal Assistant

Originally from El Paso, Texas, Vanessa Hernandez relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana, in 2016, where she has since built a thriving career in the legal field. She is currently a Legal Assistant at Munoz Legal LLC, specializing in family petitions, waivers, consular processing, and adjustment of status for individuals navigating immigration processes.

Vanessa graduated with an Associate’s degree in Business Management and Accounting from Southwest University of El Paso, equipping her with a strong foundation in business principles that complements her legal work. Since joining Munoz Legal LLC in 2022, she has developed a keen eye for detail, ensuring that legal documents are prepared accurately and timely while providing invaluable support to the firm’s clients.

Passionate about helping others, Vanessa is committed to using her skills and knowledge to assist individuals and families in securing their legal status.

Justin Scott

Legal Assistant

Justin Scott is a legal assistant with a bachelor’s degree in area studies. At Muñoz Legal, they are responsible for U-Visa cases, helping people who were victims of crimes and cooperated with authorities in their investigation and prosecution. What they value most about their work is the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of entire families, helping them get the status and rights that they deserve. Outside of work, Justin enjoys studying languages, programming apps to help people, and going out with friends.
